Lahore, September 14, 2026: Pakistan all-rounder Salman Ali Agha has delivered a sensational response to his recent omission from the national Test squad. Just days after being released from Pakistan’s England tour, Salman smashed his maiden first-class triple century, turning a controversial selection decision into one of the most remarkable comebacks of the month.

Dropped From Pakistan’s Test Squad
Salman was among seven players released by the Pakistan Cricket Board following the second Test against England at Lord’s. The PCB announced the decision on August 31, with Salman, Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq and four other players sent home.
The sweeping changes came after Pakistan suffered heavy defeats in the first two Tests of the England series. The PCB also replaced head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed with Mike Hesson.
Salman had also served as Pakistan’s stand-in captain during the first Test at Headingley while Babar Azam was unavailable.
Then Came the Stunning Reply
Back in domestic cricket, Salman wasted little time making his presence felt.
Representing Kingsmen Academy in the President’s Trophy Grade-I, he produced a breathtaking batting display against Markhor IT Solutions, scoring an unbeaten triple century.
The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that it was Salman’s first-ever first-class triple century, making him the 18th player to achieve the feat in the competition’s history.
His extraordinary innings immediately turned the spotlight back on the selection decision that had sent him home from England.
From England Setback to 300 Not Out
The timing could hardly have been more dramatic.
Salman was released from the Test squad after Pakistan’s disappointing start to the England series. Within just a couple of weeks, he returned to domestic cricket and produced the biggest innings of his first-class career.
For many Pakistan cricket fans, the triple century has become a symbolic answer to the selectors and team management.
However, it would be inaccurate to say that Salman himself publicly described the innings as revenge. The “answer” narrative has largely emerged from the timing of his performance and the reaction surrounding his omission.
A Huge Statement From the Bat
The triple century could not have come at a more significant moment in Salman’s career.
His performance has once again raised questions about Pakistan’s selection strategy, particularly after the PCB made a dramatic mid-series overhaul of the Test squad.
Former Pakistan captains and other cricket figures had already criticized the decision to make wholesale changes during the England series, with Ramiz Raja describing the move as a “panic button” reaction.

Pakistan’s England Tour Ends in Disaster
While Salman was producing a record-breaking domestic performance, Pakistan’s Test campaign in England ended in disappointment.
England defeated Pakistan in the third Test at Edgbaston to complete a 3-0 series sweep. The series was marked by Pakistan’s batting struggles and the mid-tour removal of seven players and changes to the coaching staff.
Pakistan’s problems continued after the series when the team was docked 11 World Test Championship points for maintaining a slow over-rate during the Birmingham Test.
Will Salman Return to Pakistan’s Test Team?
That is now the big question.
A triple century in domestic first-class cricket does not automatically guarantee selection, but Salman’s performance has certainly strengthened his case.
For a player who was recently sent home from an international tour, scoring an unbeaten 300 is about as powerful a reminder of his ability as he could have delivered.
The selectors made their decision in England. Salman has now made his statement with the bat.
