The filmmaker and host has announced that Season 9 of Koffee With Karan will be the show’s final season, bringing the iconic celebrity chat show to an emotional conclusion after 22 years. The final season will premiere exclusively on JioHotstar on October 14, 2026.
Karan Johar’s Emotional Farewell
In a newly released promotional video, Karan Johar looked back at the extraordinary journey of the show and revealed why he has decided that it is finally time to close this chapter.
Karan recalled telling his late father, Yash Johar, in June 2004 that he wanted to host a celebrity talk show. His first day of shooting came just weeks later, on August 16, 2004.
Now, 22 years later, the show has completed eight seasons and 161 episodes, with its ninth season set to become its final chapter.
From Bollywood Confessions to Pop-Culture Moments
Since its debut in 2004, Koffee With Karan has become much more than a celebrity interview programme.

The programme’s rapid-fire rounds and candid exchanges have also produced numerous moments that became part of Bollywood pop culture.

Karan has described the decision as emotional and personal. Speaking about the end of the show, he said he wants to dedicate the next phase of his career to filmmaking and telling more stories.
In comments reported by NDTV, Karan said he wants to spend the next decade directing more films, which influenced his decision to make Season 9 his final season.
