South Africa’s rising batting sensation Dewald Brevis has earned glowing praise from teammate and spinner Prenelan Subrayen after producing another breathtaking performance in the T20I Tri-Series in Windhoek.
Brevis smashed an unbeaten 75 off just 32 balls, including seven fours and six sixes, to power South Africa to a commanding seven-wicket victory over Zimbabwe. The Proteas chased down 145 in only 13.4 overs, making a stunning comeback after their shock defeat to Namibia in the tournament opener.

Subrayen: “Watching Him Bat Is Quite a Privilege”
Subrayen was full of admiration for the young batter, describing his explosive strokeplay as an uplifting experience for the entire dressing room.
He said Brevis had been visibly frustrated after scoring 75 against Namibia but falling short of taking South Africa over the line. The youngster responded in emphatic fashion against Zimbabwe, staying unbeaten and finishing the job for his team.
“For us, sitting in the change room, it’s uplifting watching him bat… Watching him bat is quite a privilege.”
🔥 Brevis Turns Frustration Into Fury
The back-to-back 75s underline Brevis’ growing influence in the Proteas’ young batting lineup. Against Namibia, he fought to keep South Africa alive with a 75 off 50 balls. Against Zimbabwe, he unleashed a fearless power-hitting masterclass, reaching the same score in just 32 deliveries.
Subrayen also praised South Africa’s bowling unit, which bounced back strongly after conceding 163/9 against Namibia. The Proteas restricted Zimbabwe to 144/8, with Duan Jansen taking three wickets and Subrayen claiming two.

South Africa Back on Track
The victory gave South Africa a much-needed boost after their disappointing opening loss. Subrayen said the team reflected on the defeat, identified the smaller areas that needed improvement and returned with greater intensity.
